Headliner for the opening day of the biggest music festival of the summer, held from 6 July to 9 July, is The Prodigy, top electronic dance music group.
The Prodigy, a band touring prominent festivals worldwide, will perform in Estonia in its full line-up: Keith Flint, Maxim Reality as well as Liam Howlett will be on the stage. Though many biggest names in EDM nowadays arrive to the concert with only a USB flash drive, The Prodigy will throw an awesome
and provocative stage show they are known for. In addition to music from their last album, they will also perform songs popular in Estonia, such as “Firestarter” and “Smack My Bitch Up”.
The Prodigy’s career got a start in Great Britain, Essex, when Liam Howlett called the band together. Throughout their career, they have sold over 25 million records worldwide, received prestigious awards, such as two Brit Awards, and been nominated twice for a Grammy. The Prodigy still holds a Guinness World record for the world’s fastest-selling dance music album. The album “The Fat of the Land” sold 317,000 copies on its first week in the UK, 200,000 in the USA.
The band dubbed as the Godfathers of Rave released their sixth studio album “The Day is My Enemy” in March 2015. The Billboard Magazine reviewed it stating that the dance music landscape today is completely different from the underground rave scene from which The Prodigy sprang. The dance music has morphed into a softer EDM; the album “The Day is My Enemy” however stands out against modern sugarcoated electronic music.
In addition to foreign performers, more than a hundred Estonian artists will perform on ten stages. Õllesummer Festival is held for the 23rd time from 6 July to 9 July in Tallinn Song Festival Grounds. Single day tickets are on sale for 15 euros, the Festival passes are available for 35 euros.
