John Newman, British singer and musician, heats up the party night of the Beer Summer Festival on 8 July, by stepping out on stage in front of an Estonian audience for the first time.
The 25-year-old pop star is a unique multi-talented musician. He can write, arrange, sing, produce and direct the team for his videos. In addition, design a stage set as well as the clothes him and his band will wear on it.
No doubt, Newman collected fame with the global hit “Love Me Again”, which launched him to the top of the British charts in 2013. His huge fan base (nearly 400 million “Love Me Again” views on YouTube, with over two million monthly listeners on Spotify) is sure to increase with such names as Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding. By the way, Newman is also a good friend with Calvin who took the stage at the Beer Summer Festival a few years ago.
Newman’s latest album “Revolve” feels timeless, modern-day classic. It is recorded single by single in LA, London and Miami – a trick, which John learned from Calvin. “Revolve” is bold, simple and powerful, inspired by high-end fashion and the heat of Los Angeles. It holds the sound of heartbreak and new love, freedom, excitement and soul.
The emotional boy, who grew up in the North Yorkshire town, quickly became an LA recording star, who is using the same studio as Michael Jackson did. Newman says about himself: “I am not only a singer but also a songwriter.” In addition, he promises to give a fierce stage show. “You will see how much I love the music and the performance.”
Main organizer of the Beer Summer Festival, Marje Hansar, rejoices that the selection of festival’s main performers is in good balance in terms of artists who have already proven themselves and the new, fresh artists: “We always bring a legendary band to the stage, such as Pet Shop Boys, Moby, or The Prodigy, this year. We also look for the so-called fresh blood for each festival, such as Bastille, and this year’s performer, John Newman”. As for the British pop star, Hansar says: “John Newman is truly the wunderkind of pop music who will certainly give a superb live performance”.
In addition to the main performer of the opening day, The Prodigy, and other foreign artists, more than 100 Estonian artists will take the stage on ten stages. The Beer Summer Festival, held for the 23rd time, takes place between July 6–9 at Tallinn Song Festival Grounds, and the price of the day ticket from pre-sale is 15 euros and the pass is 35 euros.
